Anyone else: Project car budget is already getting away from me

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ 6.2, about 37,000 miles. Bought a cheap project because the shell was solid, and now the 'small stuff' list is longer than the drivetrain list. How do you guys prioritize safety/reliability, fabrication, cosmetics and power without rebuilding the car three times? If I fix it I'll come back and update the thread.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in Upstate New York, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “project car budget is already getting away,” that was the fork that mattered for me. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. That's my plan before I call anyone.
