Need advice: Project car budget is already getting away from me

Bought a cheap project because the shell was solid, and now the 'small stuff' list is longer than the drivetrain list. How do you guys prioritize safety/reliability, fabrication, cosmetics and power without rebuilding the car three times? I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2022 BMW X3 before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Following up on project car budget is already getting away: still happening, but I have better notes now. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2022 BMW X3, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. Do that first. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Not convinced that's the whole story. If it still isn't clear on the 2022 BMW X3, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
