Question: Porsche Cayman purchase: how much weight do you give a borescope?

TruckMomCommunity StarterJan 30, 20262007 Porsche Cayman SSacramento
Looking at an older Cayman S with good records. I keep seeing buyers emphasize borescope/PPI work on this generation. For someone vetting listings, what would make you walk away before spending money on a full inspection? I'm in Sacramento. If I fix it I'll come back and update the thread.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2007 Porsche Cayman with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “porsche cayman purchase: how much weight do,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Yes, with one caveat: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2007 Porsche Cayman so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

If I were shopping this, in Sacramento, insurance quotes flipped a 2007 Porsche Cayman comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. A written buyer’s order on the 2007 Porsche Cayman is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. Stop there until you know. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Sacramento, insurance quotes flipped a 2007 Porsche Cayman comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Ask for out-the-door on the 2007 Porsche Cayman with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “porsche cayman purchase: how much weight do,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2007 Porsche Cayman in Sacramento. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2007 Porsche Cayman and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Do that first. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Sacramento, insurance quotes flipped a 2007 Porsche Cayman comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2007 Porsche Cayman in Sacramento. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.
