Question: Used truck versus new compact pickup

QuietRider85Community StarterAug 1, 20262024 Tesla Model Y Long RangeNashville
Same money buys an older full-size truck with capability I may never use or a newer compact truck with better fuel economy and warranty. Anyone make this switch and regret the smaller truck? I'm in Nashville. Trying to diagnose before I book a shop.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2024 Tesla Model Y in Nashville, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. Then you'll know the next fork. On “used truck versus new compact pickup,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Tesla Model Y before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in Nashville. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Tesla Model Y owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2024 Tesla Model Y, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
