Water spots came back after paint correction

RotorLearner50Community StarterJul 4, 20262024 Tesla Model Y Long RangeUpstate New York
Paint looked perfect after correction, but after a few outdoor washes I can see water spotting again under certain light. I'm trying to improve the process rather than keep polishing clear coat away. What would you change first?

I'd wait for the actual TSB/recall population, not the headline. Check whether your 2024 Tesla Model Y VIN is actually in the affected batch before you plan a dealer day. That's where I'd start. On “water spots came back after paint correction,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Software recalls make me ask how much of 'driving' lives in a module now. Check whether your 2024 Tesla Model Y VIN is actually in the affected batch before you plan a dealer day. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2024 Tesla Model Y in Upstate New York. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I parked the 2024 Tesla Model Y and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

New-model numbers always look better than curb weight and tire size. If this is a 2027 reveal, I wouldn't map it onto today's 2024 Tesla Model Y ownership costs yet. Then you'll know the next fork. On “water spots came back after paint correction,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If this is a 2027 reveal, I wouldn't map it onto today's 2024 Tesla Model Y ownership costs yet. I'd do that before spending real money. The universe charges extra for guessing. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Thanks — that narrowed it. I'm going to try the simpler check on the 2024 Tesla Model Y first. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
