1990 Ford F-150 — my model year is in a recall article but my VIN is not

This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 1990 Ford F-150 XLT, about 186,500 miles. News says my model year is involved, but the VIN lookup shows no open recall. Is that usually because only certain build ranges are affected, or can the databases lag? I am in Tampa.

I would start here: write down what you already tested so the next step is not a repeat.

Before you spend money, owner data points help more than a generic forum diagnosis on a 1990 Ford F-150.

If it were mine, I would verify the cheap/easy branch on the 1990 Ford F-150 before committing to a big repair.

One thing that mattered for me: in Tampa, I care more about the thing I will notice every day than the spec-sheet extra.
