1990 Ford F-150 — online auction photos barely show the underside

CanyonScout698Community StarterJun 7, 20261990 Ford F-150 XLTNYC
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 1990 Ford F-150 XLT, about 178,500 miles. Auction listing has lots of cosmetic photos and records, but not much underneath. For an older enthusiast car, what questions or photos would you request before bidding remotely? I would rather test this logically than replace parts.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In NYC, insurance quotes flipped a 1990 Ford F-150 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. A written buyer’s order on the 1990 Ford F-150 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “150 — online auction photos barely show,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 1990 Ford F-150 in NYC with 178,500 miles. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

I'd push back a little: I would not wire money until I've seen the 1990 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Any freeze-frame data saved? Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Walked a dealership this week on the 1990 Ford F-150 (178,500 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. Sleeping on the number either way.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In NYC, insurance quotes flipped a 1990 Ford F-150 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 1990 Ford F-150 in NYC with 178,500 miles. Any freeze-frame data saved? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.
