2005 Ford F-250 — is this actually a good used-car deal?

DealFan254Community StarterJul 20, 20262005 Ford F-250 6.0 Power StrokeWashington DC
The online price looks competitive, but I am trying to judge the entire deal rather than the headline number. What should I compare besides mileage, history, condition and a PPI before deciding what it is worth? I am in Washington DC.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2005 Ford F-250, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Quick add on that: Ask for out-the-door on the 2005 Ford F-250 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the whole play. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2005 Ford F-250, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2005 Ford F-250 in Washington DC. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Washington DC, insurance quotes flipped a 2005 Ford F-250 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Did the worksheet show tax yet? Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Ask for out-the-door on the 2005 Ford F-250 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “250 — is this actually a good,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2005 Ford F-250 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2005 Ford F-250 in Washington DC. Stop there until you know. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2005 Ford F-250. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I would not stare at the monthly. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2005 Ford F-250 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2005 Ford F-250 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. On “250 — is this actually a good,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2005 Ford F-250 in Washington DC. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2005 Ford F-250 and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. I screenshotted the quote for later.
