2005 Ford F-250 — online auction photos barely show the underside

Auction listing has lots of cosmetic photos and records, but not much underneath. For an older enthusiast car, what questions or photos would you request before bidding remotely? I am in NYC.

Title status is the whole conversation. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2005 Ford F-250, not a parking lot at night. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Agree — and I'd add this: A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2005 Ford F-250 is enough reason to walk. Then you'll know the next fork. On “250 — online auction photos barely show,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Bill of sale, VIN, odometer, and names matching the title — I'd want all four on the 2005 Ford F-250. Then you'll know the next fork. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2005 Ford F-250 and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2005 Ford F-250 notes. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Title status is the whole conversation. If the 2005 Ford F-250 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Independent PPI on the 2005 Ford F-250 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. Any freeze-frame data saved? If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Independent PPI on the 2005 Ford F-250 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.
