2007 Porsche Cayman S — question: Do shorter oil intervals actually make sense for my use?

EcoRunner34Community StarterApr 1, 20262007 Porsche Cayman SNashville
Most of my driving is short trips with a lot of idling, but the factory interval is pretty long. I'd rather not waste oil, but I also plan to keep the car past 150k. How would you set an interval based on use instead of just mileage? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2007 Porsche Cayman owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. When does it actually happen? This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2007 Porsche Cayman, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2007 Porsche Cayman in Nashville. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2007 Porsche Cayman before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2007 Porsche Cayman. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2007 Porsche Cayman before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. This is from a 2007 Porsche Cayman in Nashville. Did the worksheet show tax yet? I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.
