2013 Nissan 370Z — buyer wants to pay with cashier check on a weekend

CleanGeek210Community StarterFeb 16, 20262013 Nissan 370Z TouringTampa
2013 Nissan 370Z Touring, about 96,500 miles. A buyer wants to meet Saturday when my bank is closed and use a cashier check. I am not accusing them of anything; I just want a payment method I can actually verify before signing over the car. If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Independent PPI on the 2013 Nissan 370Z is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” That's where I'd start. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. If the 2013 Nissan 370Z still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. I'd do that before spending real money. On “buyer wants to pay with cashier check,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2013 Nissan 370Z is enough reason to walk. Then you'll know the next fork. That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Quick add on that: If the 2013 Nissan 370Z still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Sleeping on the number either way.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2013 Nissan 370Z, not a parking lot at night. That's where I'd start. Do that first. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Title status is the whole conversation. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2013 Nissan 370Z is enough reason to walk. That's where I'd start. That's the sequence I'd use. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Fair point. Counterpoint: A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2013 Nissan 370Z is enough reason to walk. I'd do that before spending real money. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
