2014 Ford Mustang — 50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke?

LongMilesTuner967Community StarterApr 14, 20262014 Ford Mustang GTTexas
2014 Ford Mustang GT, about 140,500 miles. I just crossed 50k miles and want to log maintenance, unscheduled repairs, tire life, fuel economy, dealer visits, annoyances and whether I would buy the same car again.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2014 Ford Mustang so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2014 Ford Mustang in Texas with 140,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2014 Ford Mustang numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. This is from a 2014 Ford Mustang in Texas with 140,500 miles. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2014 Ford Mustang and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. When does it actually happen? If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Yes, with one caveat: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2014 Ford Mustang so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2014 Ford Mustang in Texas with 140,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Fair point. Counterpoint: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2014 Ford Mustang and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Yes, with one caveat: A written buyer’s order on the 2014 Ford Mustang is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “50,000-mile ownership report: what actually broke,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I would not stare at the monthly. In Texas, insurance quotes flipped a 2014 Ford Mustang comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2014 Ford Mustang in Texas with 140,500 miles. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Texas, insurance quotes flipped a 2014 Ford Mustang comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2014 Ford Mustang in Texas with 140,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2014 Ford Mustang, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Was this after sitting overnight? Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2014 Ford Mustang so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2014 Ford Mustang and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Do that first. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.
