2016 Audi A4 — delayed engagement into Drive when cold

2016 Audi A4 Premium, about 127,000 miles. After sitting overnight, shifting from Park to Drive can take a second or two before the vehicle actually engages. Once warm it behaves normally. Would you start with fluid, adaptation data, mounts or something mechanical? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

Ask what changed right before it started. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2016 Audi A4 does it — then decide on parts. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Quick add on that: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2016 Audi A4 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “delayed engagement into drive when cold,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. I'll poke at it this weekend.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2016 Audi A4, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I went back under the 2016 Audi A4 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Only after sitting overnight so far.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2016 Audi A4 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
