2016 Audi A4 — two nearly identical cars are priced $4k apart

CanyonOwner864Community StarterMay 22, 20262016 Audi A4 PremiumPhiladelphia
2016 Audi A4 Premium, about 133,500 miles. Same year, trim and similar mileage, but two listings are thousands apart. One is CPO and one is not. How would you quantify condition, warranty, history and dealer reputation?

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in Philadelphia before you fall in love with the 2016 Audi A4. If they balk, that's your answer. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2016 Audi A4 in Philadelphia with 133,500 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. That's my plan before I call anyone.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2016 Audi A4 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in Philadelphia before you fall in love with the 2016 Audi A4. If they balk, that's your answer. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Philadelphia, insurance quotes flipped a 2016 Audi A4 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2016 Audi A4 in Philadelphia with 133,500 miles. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Yes, with one caveat: A written buyer’s order on the 2016 Audi A4 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Philadelphia, insurance quotes flipped a 2016 Audi A4 comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2016 Audi A4, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. A written buyer’s order on the 2016 Audi A4 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2016 Audi A4 in Philadelphia with 133,500 miles. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd push back a little: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2016 Audi A4 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2016 Audi A4 in Philadelphia with 133,500 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Philadelphia, insurance quotes flipped a 2016 Audi A4 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Not wiring anything in the meantime.
