2016 Ford Focus — dealer lowered price but added accessories back in

2016 Ford Focus ST, about 99,000 miles. We agreed on a vehicle price, then the worksheet included dealer-installed products I did not ask for. The total is now higher than before. What is the cleanest way to negotiate from an out-the-door number?

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Ask for out-the-door on the 2016 Ford Focus with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2016 Ford Focus in Cleveland with 99,000 miles. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2016 Ford Focus quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I asked about dealer lowered price but added accessories back again and they still won't put GAP/add-ons on their own lines. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2016 Ford Focus price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2016 Ford Focus in Cleveland with 99,000 miles. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in Cleveland before you fall in love with the 2016 Ford Focus. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer lowered price but added accessories back,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2016 Ford Focus (99,000 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
