2016 Subaru WRX — intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop

ManualDad711Community StarterNov 6, 20252016 Subaru WRX STICleveland
Every few days the car hesitates for a split second leaving a stop, then drives normally. No permanent warning light. I want to know what data to capture the next time it happens. If I figure it out I will update the thread.

If it were in my driveway, a pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2016 Subaru WRX is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Ask what changed right before it started. Capture voltage while the 2016 Subaru WRX is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Loaded-suspension checks on the 2016 Subaru WRX catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2016 Subaru WRX in Cleveland. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2016 Subaru WRX and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.
