2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee — costs that mattered more than fuel economy

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, about 118,500 miles. After owning the car for a while, tires, insurance and service pricing mattered more than the MPG difference I obsessed over before buying.

Log the conditions before you spend. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. On “costs that mattered more than fuel economy,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.
