2017 Nissan Altima — two nearly identical cars are priced $4k apart

CleanNomad410Community StarterAug 1, 20262017 Nissan Altima 2.5 SVPortland
2017 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV, about 143,000 miles. Same year, trim and similar mileage, but two listings are thousands apart. One is CPO and one is not. How would you quantify condition, warranty, history and dealer reputation? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2017 Nissan Altima and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Was this after sitting overnight? If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

If I were shopping this, if they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2017 Nissan Altima price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2017 Nissan Altima so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Do that first. I'd rather be boring and correct. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. A written buyer’s order on the 2017 Nissan Altima is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2017 Nissan Altima and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2017 Nissan Altima so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Call your insurer in Portland before you fall in love with the 2017 Nissan Altima. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2017 Nissan Altima in Portland with 143,000 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2017 Nissan Altima, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2017 Nissan Altima numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. Any freeze-frame data saved? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Ask for out-the-door on the 2017 Nissan Altima with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2017 Nissan Altima so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “two nearly identical cars are priced $4k,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Portland changed the 2017 Nissan Altima comparison more than the sale price did. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

If I were shopping this, in Portland, insurance quotes flipped a 2017 Nissan Altima comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
