2018 Ford F-150 — advertised price jumps thousands at the desk

The advertised used-car price was competitive, but the worksheet includes protection packages, tracking equipment and other preinstalled items that were not obvious online. How do you compare the real OTD price across dealers? I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2018 Ford F-150, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Ford F-150 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “150 — advertised price jumps thousands at,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2018 Ford F-150 in Tampa. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2018 Ford F-150 and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I would not stare at the monthly. If one piece looks too good on the 2018 Ford F-150, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Agree — and I'd add this: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2018 Ford F-150 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'd rather be boring and correct. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.
