2018 Kia Optima — lower mileage or better documentation?

2018 Kia Optima EX, about 101,500 miles. I am comparing two older enthusiast cars. One has lower mileage but thin records; the other has more miles and years of invoices. If condition is similar, how much value do you put on documentation?

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2018 Kia Optima, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2018 Kia Optima is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “lower mileage or better documentation,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2018 Kia Optima and see if the fault moves. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Stop there until you know. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Move a coil or plug on the 2018 Kia Optima if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “lower mileage or better documentation,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Heat soak after errands is the other window.

Quick add on that: Capture voltage while the 2018 Kia Optima is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2018 Kia Optima in Columbus with 101,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. I already checked the easy fluid levels.
