2020 BMW M2 — intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop

Every few days the car hesitates for a split second leaving a stop, then drives normally. No permanent warning light. I want to know what data to capture the next time it happens. Mostly looking for the right next step.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2020 BMW M2, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “intermittent hesitation pulling away from a stop,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Not driving it hard until I know more.

Update: the cheap test changed the symptom, so I'm not throwing parts yet. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.

Yes, with one caveat: Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2020 BMW M2 does it — then decide on parts. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I went back under the 2020 BMW M2 and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

Log the conditions before you spend. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2020 BMW M2 does it — then decide on parts. That's the branch I'd chase this week. That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2020 BMW M2 is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2020 BMW M2 in Charlotte. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

If it were in my driveway, capture voltage while the 2020 BMW M2 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2020 BMW M2 in Charlotte. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Ask what changed right before it started. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2020 BMW M2, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. No need to make it theatrical. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.
