Salt and cold mornings punish cheap shortcuts. Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2020 GMC Yukon. I'd do that before spending real money. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I'd pick the setup I'll actually live with in slush. In Tampa, dedicated winters on the 2020 GMC Yukon paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. That's where I'd start. On “surface rust underneath a winter daily,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Quick add on that: Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2020 GMC Yukon. That's where I'd start. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather be boring and correct. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Fair point. Counterpoint: If Tampa only sees a few real storms, a good all-weather on the 2020 GMC Yukon can be the saner daily. Then you'll know the next fork. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd push back a little: Watch brake clearance and overall diameter if you downsize winter wheels on the 2020 GMC Yukon. That's where I'd start. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

This is a climate question as much as a tire question. In Tampa, dedicated winters on the 2020 GMC Yukon paid off more than I expected on ice, even on plowed roads. Then you'll know the next fork. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Checking again after work.

This is from a 2020 GMC Yukon in Tampa with 66,500 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2020 GMC Yukon. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

OP update: I tried the earlier suggestion and it only happens under that one condition. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.
