2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC — check-engine light turned itself off — still scan it?

V8Collector191Community StarterMay 25, 20262021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300Houston
The light was on for two days and then disappeared before I could schedule service. Car feels normal. Is there still likely to be useful stored or pending data if I scan it now?

It did benz glc — check-engine light turned itself twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

I went back under the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC and it only happens after a heat soak, not on a cold start. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. This is from a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC in Houston. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is losing coolant with no puddle. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “benz glc — check-engine light turned itself,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Ask what changed right before it started. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. Save the big job until that test fails. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. That's the whole play. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

If it were in my driveway, loaded-suspension checks on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'd rather be boring and correct. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Checked the easy stuff on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Asking because it changes the advice: Move a coil or plug on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Quick add on that: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “benz glc — check-engine light turned itself,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Do that first. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “benz glc — check-engine light turned itself,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. That's my plan before I call anyone.

I'd push back a little: Move a coil or plug on the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. That's the branch I'd chase this week. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

Yes, with one caveat: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is losing coolant with no puddle. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. I keep a notes app thread for this now.
