2021 Nissan Rogue — 120k one-owner car versus 70k with thin history

DieselRoadie610Community StarterJan 11, 20262021 Nissan Rogue SVSalt Lake City
2021 Nissan Rogue SV, about 98,500 miles. The higher-mileage car has detailed records and consistent ownership; the lower-mileage example has sparse history. If both inspect well, how much weight do you put on maintenance history versus odometer? I am trying to get the facts straight before spending money.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2021 Nissan Rogue. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2021 Nissan Rogue quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In Salt Lake City, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Nissan Rogue comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Make the next action something you can finish this week. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Nissan Rogue numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Fair point. Counterpoint: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Nissan Rogue and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2021 Nissan Rogue, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Nissan Rogue with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “120k one-owner car versus 70k with thin,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Salt Lake City before you fall in love with the 2021 Nissan Rogue. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Salt Lake City with 98,500 miles. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Salt Lake City changed the 2021 Nissan Rogue comparison more than the sale price did. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Agree — and I'd add this: A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Nissan Rogue is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “120k one-owner car versus 70k with thin,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Salt Lake City with 98,500 miles. Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2021 Nissan Rogue with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “120k one-owner car versus 70k with thin,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Salt Lake City before you fall in love with the 2021 Nissan Rogue. If they balk, that's your answer. Just my two cents from doing this recently. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.
