2021 Nissan Rogue — how much reconditioning is worth doing before listing?

This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2021 Nissan Rogue SV, about 104,500 miles. Car needs tires soon and has a few cosmetic issues. I am not sure whether spending money first will return more in the sale price. What repairs or detailing usually pay back and what should just be disclosed? I am in Queens. I would rather test this logically than replace parts.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Nissan Rogue numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. On “how much reconditioning is worth doing before,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Nissan Rogue and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2021 Nissan Rogue. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I would not stare at the monthly. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Nissan Rogue price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Stop there until you know. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Quick add on that: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Nissan Rogue so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. That's the sequence I'd use. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Quick update: a second 2021 Nissan Rogue quote made the first offer look ordinary. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2021 Nissan Rogue quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. No need to make it theatrical. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Nissan Rogue and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. No need to make it theatrical. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Agree — and I'd add this: A written buyer’s order on the 2021 Nissan Rogue is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “how much reconditioning is worth doing before,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Nissan Rogue so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. This is from a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Queens with 104,500 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Nissan Rogue and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.
