2023 Genesis G70 — coolant is old by age but mileage is low

TrackRoadie11Community StarterAug 16, 20262023 Genesis G70 3.3TSalt Lake City
2023 Genesis G70 3.3T, about 19,000 miles. The vehicle has relatively few miles but the coolant is several years old. I am trying to prioritize maintenance by actual risk. Would you replace based on time alone?

Checked the easy stuff on the 2023 Genesis G70 and found one clue worth chasing before I book a shop. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

If it were in my driveway, move a coil or plug on the 2023 Genesis G70 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. That's the whole play. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Genesis G70, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. That's the branch I'd chase this week. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Ask what changed right before it started. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 Genesis G70 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2023 Genesis G70 in Salt Lake City with 19,000 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I keep a notes app thread for this now.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2023 Genesis G70 didn't change. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2023 Genesis G70 first. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Two 2023 Genesis G70s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “coolant is old by age but mileage,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 Genesis G70 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 Genesis G70 and see if the fault moves. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. This is from a 2023 Genesis G70 in Salt Lake City with 19,000 miles. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Not interested in a five-hour wait for a shrug.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Genesis G70, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2023 Genesis G70 in Salt Lake City with 19,000 miles. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. That's my plan before I call anyone.

It did coolant is old by age but mileage twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.
