2023 Rivian R1T Quad-Motor — how are you estimating real battery degradation?

TrailHunter77Community StarterAug 13, 20262023 Rivian R1T Quad-MotorNYC / Long Island
2023 Rivian R1T Quad-Motor, about 151,000 miles. Dash range changes with temperature and driving, so I'm looking for a better way to judge battery health. What data do you trust—usable kWh, charging energy, service-mode values, repeated range tests? Any data points from owners would help.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In NYC / Long Island, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Rivian R1T comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: A written buyer’s order on the 2023 Rivian R1T is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. On “motor — how are you estimating real,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2023 Rivian R1T so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “motor — how are you estimating real,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in NYC / Long Island with 151,000 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 Rivian R1T, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in NYC / Long Island with 151,000 miles. Do that first. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2023 Rivian R1T and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. In NYC / Long Island, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Rivian R1T comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. Two 2023 Rivian R1T quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. A written buyer’s order on the 2023 Rivian R1T is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” If they balk, that's your answer. I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2023 Rivian R1T, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in NYC / Long Island before you fall in love with the 2023 Rivian R1T. If they balk, that's your answer. On “motor — how are you estimating real,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Parts cannon is a personality type I try to avoid. I screenshotted the quote for later.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2023 Rivian R1T. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. Sleeping on the number either way.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2023 Rivian R1T (151,000 miles) and the doc fee was the tell. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.
