2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness — tires or brake pads first for autocross?

JDMEnthusiastCommunity StarterAug 29, 20262023 Subaru Outback WildernessConnecticut
Budget only allows one upgrade before my first season. Current tires are decent street tires and pads are basic replacement pads. Which upgrade actually helps a beginner learn more? I'm in Connecticut. Appreciate any ideas on what to check first. Ambient temp was about 45°F when I noticed it.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2023 Subaru Outback before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2023 Subaru Outback in Connecticut. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2023 Subaru Outback in Connecticut, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “tires or brake pads first for autocross,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.
