2024 Audi Q5 — steering wheel vibration only at one highway speed

NewCarDetailer452Community StarterApr 24, 20262024 Audi Q5 Premium PlusDallas
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2024 Audi Q5 Premium Plus, about 28,500 miles. The car is smooth around town, but there is a noticeable steering-wheel vibration in a narrow highway speed range. It gets better again above that speed. Tires look normal at a glance. What would you test first before replacing anything?

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Audi Q5 does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 Audi Q5 in Dallas with 28,500 miles. No need to make it theatrical. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Audi Q5 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 Audi Q5 in Dallas with 28,500 miles. That's the whole play. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Audi Q5, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Log the conditions before you spend. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Audi Q5 if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Save the big job until that test fails. On “steering wheel vibration only at one highway,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Audi Q5 in Dallas with 28,500 miles. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Cold start is when I can actually reproduce it.
