2024 BMW i4 eDrive40 — anyone else: High transmission temperature after several hard laps

ShiftLearnerCommunity StarterApr 14, 20262024 BMW i4 eDrive40Seattle
After several laps the transmission temp rises enough that shifting behavior changes. Car cools down and works normally again. Looking for data points on cooling upgrades versus simply shortening sessions. Any data points from owners would help.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2024 BMW i4 in Seattle, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. On “anyone else: high transmission temperature after several,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 BMW i4 before a big repair or a big spend. Then you'll know the next fork. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 BMW i4 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If it still isn't clear on the 2024 BMW i4, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
