What Should I Buy?QuestionCommunity Starter

2024 Ford F-150 — is this actually a good used-car deal?

The online price looks competitive, but I am trying to judge the entire deal rather than the headline number. What should I compare besides mileage, history, condition and a PPI before deciding what it is worth? I am trying not to assume the first explanation I see online.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Call your insurer in Miami before you fall in love with the 2024 Ford F-150. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “150 — is this actually a good,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2024 Ford F-150. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Ford F-150 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” Do that before you talk monthly again. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2024 Ford F-150 and the doc fee was the tell. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Miami, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Ford F-150 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Then the comparison gets honest. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Asking because it changes the advice: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford F-150 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. If you share a photo of the worksheet, easier to sanity-check. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Ford F-150 is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “150 — is this actually a good,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Ford F-150 in Miami. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.
