2024 Ford Mustang — what should a real pre-purchase inspection include?

ProjectTraveler753Community StarterJun 15, 20262024 Ford Mustang GTSeattle
2024 Ford Mustang GT, about 22,500 miles. I am paying an independent shop to inspect a used car. Besides a scan and putting it on a lift, what should I ask them to check so it is more than a quick state-inspection-style look? I am in Seattle.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. Two 2024 Ford Mustang quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Any freeze-frame data saved? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ford Mustang so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Ford Mustang numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford Mustang and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. This is from a 2024 Ford Mustang in Seattle with 22,500 miles. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Yes, with one caveat: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2024 Ford Mustang so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “what should a real pre-purchase inspection include,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Ford Mustang in Seattle with 22,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Ford Mustang and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Ford Mustang is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “what should a real pre-purchase inspection include,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

If I were shopping this, if one piece looks too good on the 2024 Ford Mustang, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Was this after sitting overnight? Doing the boring step first on purpose.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Ford Mustang price probably got worse. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Ford Mustang numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I asked about what should a real pre-purchase inspection include again and they still won't put GAP/add-ons on their own lines. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2024 Ford Mustang. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Call your insurer in Seattle before you fall in love with the 2024 Ford Mustang. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “what should a real pre-purchase inspection include,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Ford Mustang in Seattle with 22,500 miles. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.
