2024 Jeep Gladiator — dealer APR is higher than my credit-union preapproval

I have a preapproval in hand and the dealer offered a higher rate. Is there any reason to let them try to beat it, and how should I compare lender fees or incentives instead of only APR? If I figure it out I will update the thread.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. If the 2024 Jeep Gladiator still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. That's where I'd start. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. I screenshotted the quote for later.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. Independent PPI on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Independent PPI on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” Then you'll know the next fork. Do that first. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Title status is the whole conversation. Bill of sale, VIN, odometer, and names matching the title — I'd want all four on the 2024 Jeep Gladiator. I'd do that before spending real money. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2024 Jeep Gladiator is enough reason to walk. That's where I'd start. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. PPI guy I use is booked until next week, so I'm waiting.

This is from a 2024 Jeep Gladiator in Austin. No need to make it theatrical. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the story changes I'll post the new data.
