2024 Kia EV9 — reliable cheap first car or newer car with warranty?

QuietMom698Community StarterAug 31, 20262024 Kia EV9 GT-LineCleveland
2024 Kia EV9 GT-Line, about 4,000 miles. I am trying to balance purchase price against downtime and surprise repairs. Would you put the same budget into an older proven car with cash left over, or a newer car with warranty coverage? I am in Cleveland.

Title status is the whole conversation. Meet at a bank or dealer title office for the 2024 Kia EV9, not a parking lot at night. That's where I'd start. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. If the 2024 Kia EV9 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. That's where I'd start. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Don't get cute with the meetup or the payment. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2024 Kia EV9 is enough reason to walk. That's where I'd start. Any freeze-frame data saved? If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. If the 2024 Kia EV9 still shows a lien, coordinate payoff with the lender before any cash changes hands. That's where I'd start. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. Not trying to scare you — just skip the expensive first guess. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I'd treat this like cash with a paper trail. A rushed deposit before you can inspect the 2024 Kia EV9 is enough reason to walk. Then you'll know the next fork. On “reliable cheap first car or newer car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2024 Kia EV9 notes. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Private-party deals fail on paperwork, not vibes. Independent PPI on the 2024 Kia EV9 is cheap insurance versus a seller who “already had a friend look at it.” I'd do that before spending real money. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.
