2024 Polestar 2 — fast charging tapers earlier than it used to

QuietMom698Community StarterApr 25, 20262024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual MotorSacramento
This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, about 32,500 miles. On comparable road trips the charge rate now starts tapering sooner. I am trying to separate charger sharing, battery temperature, software changes and actual battery health. I am in Sacramento.

Log the conditions before you spend. Two 2024 Polestar 2s can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. Save the big job until that test fails. On “fast charging tapers earlier than it used,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

Yes, with one caveat: A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2024 Polestar 2 is losing coolant with no puddle. Save the big job until that test fails. This is from a 2024 Polestar 2 in Sacramento with 32,500 miles. That's the sequence I'd use. Checking again after work.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2024 Polestar 2 does it — then decide on parts. Save the big job until that test fails. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Ask what changed right before it started. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Polestar 2 and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2024 Polestar 2 catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “fast charging tapers earlier than it used,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Polestar 2 in Sacramento with 32,500 miles. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Ask what changed right before it started. Capture voltage while the 2024 Polestar 2 is actually failing — after it restarts you've lost the clue. That's the branch I'd chase this week. No need to make it theatrical. If it repeats twice more I'll book time.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Polestar 2, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. No need to make it theatrical. This is the version I'd tell a friend.
