2024 Polestar 2 — what should a real pre-purchase inspection include?

UsedCarDad869Community StarterJul 9, 20262024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual MotorSan Diego
2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, about 30,500 miles. I am paying an independent shop to inspect a used car. Besides a scan and putting it on a lift, what should I ask them to check so it is more than a quick state-inspection-style look? Mostly looking for the right next step. What would you check next?

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Call your insurer in San Diego before you fall in love with the 2024 Polestar 2. Do that before you talk monthly again. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. Two 2024 Polestar 2 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In San Diego, insurance quotes flipped a 2024 Polestar 2 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Polestar 2 numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “what should a real pre-purchase inspection include,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Polestar 2 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “what should a real pre-purchase inspection include,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the sequence I'd use. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Polestar 2 numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Polestar 2 price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Polestar 2 and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. I'd want that in writing, not as a promise. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Agree — and I'd add this: GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Polestar 2 numbers without them. If they balk, that's your answer. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Asking because it changes the advice: Two 2024 Polestar 2 quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I'll update if anything new shows up.

OP here. Still looking, but I'm waiting on inspection notes before I send money on the 2024 Polestar 2. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Ask for out-the-door on the 2024 Polestar 2 with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “what should a real pre-purchase inspection include,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I screenshotted the quote for later.

If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.
