2024 Rivian R1S Dual-Motor — anyone else: Ceramic-coated car still picked up light swirls

2024 Rivian R1S Dual-Motor, about 4,800 miles. Coating looks glossy and beads well, but I still picked up light marring over time. I think my wash/dry process is the problem. What part of the routine causes the most avoidable contact? Any data points from owners would help.

Update: the cheap test changed the symptom, so I'm not throwing parts yet. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2024 Rivian R1S charge sessions. That's where I'd start. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. Video is ugly but it shows the hesitation.

I'd treat 12V warnings as a no-ignore. On the 2024 Rivian R1S, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. I'd do that before spending real money. On “motor — anyone else: ceramic-coated car still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Rivian R1S in Los Angeles with 4,800 miles. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2024 Rivian R1S — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. That's where I'd start. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2024 Rivian R1S first. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

On “motor — anyone else: ceramic-coated car still,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me.
