2024 Subaru WRX — first HPDE in a stock street car

This started as a small annoyance and I finally decided to track it down. 2024 Subaru WRX Premium, about 43,000 miles. I am doing my first beginner track day and do not care about lap records. Besides fresh brake fluid, enough pad, good tires and torque checks, what is truly necessary versus internet overkill? I am in Orange County.

Tried a second charger / second scan and the story on the 2024 Subaru WRX didn't change. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. Move a coil or plug on the 2024 Subaru WRX if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Any freeze-frame data saved? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Yes, with one caveat: If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2024 Subaru WRX, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Save the big job until that test fails. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2024 Subaru WRX, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “first hpde in a stock street car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Subaru WRX in Orange County with 43,000 miles. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? Heat soak after errands is the other window.

Fair point. Counterpoint: Two 2024 Subaru WRXs can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. Parking it somewhere I can hear it better next time.

Log the conditions before you spend. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2024 Subaru WRX and see if the fault moves. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. On “first hpde in a stock street car,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.
