2024 Volkswagen Golf R — dealer APR is higher than my credit-union preapproval

2024 Volkswagen Golf R, about 43,000 miles. I have a preapproval in hand and the dealer offered a higher rate. Is there any reason to let them try to beat it, and how should I compare lender fees or incentives instead of only APR? I would rather test this logically than replace parts.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. This is from a 2024 Volkswagen Golf R in Bay Area with 43,000 miles. Was this after sitting overnight? Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R numbers without them. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Stop there until you know. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2024 Volkswagen Golf R price probably got worse. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Had a similar mess a couple years ago and that's what finally sorted it. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
