2025 Porsche Macan — dealer APR is higher than my credit-union preapproval

HighwayTraveler957Community StarterMar 4, 20262025 Porsche Macan Electric 4SWashington DC
I have a preapproval in hand and the dealer offered a higher rate. Is there any reason to let them try to beat it, and how should I compare lender fees or incentives instead of only APR?

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. A written buyer’s order on the 2025 Porsche Macan is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. This is from a 2025 Porsche Macan in Washington DC. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'd rather be boring and correct. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Walked a dealership this week on the 2025 Porsche Macan and the doc fee was the tell. I'll post OTD once I have two apples-to-apples sheets.

Quick add on that: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2025 Porsche Macan so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Two 2025 Porsche Macan quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2025 Porsche Macan in Washington DC. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. Going to compare one more dealer before I decide.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2025 Porsche Macan numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2025 Porsche Macan quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Then the comparison gets honest. Stop there until you know. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Washington DC changed the 2025 Porsche Macan comparison more than the sale price did. Not wiring anything in the meantime.

I would not stare at the monthly. Two 2025 Porsche Macan quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. That's the part that actually changes the decision. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

I asked about dealer apr is higher than my credit-union again and they still won't put GAP/add-ons on their own lines. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. In Washington DC, insurance quotes flipped a 2025 Porsche Macan comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. Ask for out-the-door on the 2025 Porsche Macan with fees, add-ons, and rate on separate lines. If they balk, that's your answer. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

If I were shopping this, two 2025 Porsche Macan quotes only help if both include tax, title, and the same options. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2025 Porsche Macan. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Agree — and I'd add this: Call your insurer in Washington DC before you fall in love with the 2025 Porsche Macan. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If one piece looks too good on the 2025 Porsche Macan, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

Coming back with numbers — insurance in Washington DC changed the 2025 Porsche Macan comparison more than the sale price did. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in Washington DC before you fall in love with the 2025 Porsche Macan. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “dealer apr is higher than my credit-union,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
