50k-mile ownership check-in

TruckMiles96Community StarterJul 22, 20262023 Jeep Wrangler RubiconHouston
Crossed 50k miles, so I figured I'd post what has actually broken, what maintenance cost, tire life, fuel economy, annoying quirks and whether I'd buy the same car again. What am I missing?

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2023 Jeep Wrangler numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

I'd want competing paper, not competing stories. Call your insurer in Houston before you fall in love with the 2023 Jeep Wrangler. If they balk, that's your answer. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. In Houston, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 Jeep Wrangler comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If the title is messy I'm out, full stop.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

OP update: I got two written quotes on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler and the out-the-door gap is bigger than the ads made it look. That's my plan before I call anyone.

PPI is scheduled. I'm not depositing until I see the 2023 Jeep Wrangler notes. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

Fair point. Counterpoint: I would not wire money until I've seen the 2023 Jeep Wrangler and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. I've seen both outcomes, which is why I'd test instead of assume. Doc fee is the line I'm watching.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Call your insurer in Houston before you fall in love with the 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “mile ownership check-in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Jeep Wrangler in Houston. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Agree — and I'd add this: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2023 Jeep Wrangler so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Walk if they won't put it on a buyer’s order. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.

If it doesn't change the out-the-door or the repair estimate, it's noise. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I would not stare at the monthly. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2023 Jeep Wrangler and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the VIN lookup is clean I'm still doing PPI.

Quick update: a second 2023 Jeep Wrangler quote made the first offer look ordinary. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.
