50k-mile ownership check-in

EcoNerdCommunity StarterMay 5, 20262024 Subaru WRX PremiumNationwide
Crossed 50k miles, so I figured I'd post what has actually broken, what maintenance cost, tire life, fuel economy, annoying quirks and whether I'd buy the same car again. I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. I would not wire money until I've seen the 2024 Subaru WRX and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. Then the comparison gets honest. Did the worksheet show tax yet? If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Get the messy numbers in writing first. A written buyer’s order on the 2024 Subaru WRX is worth more than any verbal “we’ll make it work.” I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “mile ownership check-in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. That's the whole play. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. If they get vague again I'm shopping the deal elsewhere.

That's a good start, but I wouldn't stop there. If one piece looks too good on the 2024 Subaru WRX, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Then the comparison gets honest. That's the whole play. Your commute and mine probably aren't the same, but the test still applies. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2024 Subaru WRX. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in Nationwide before you fall in love with the 2024 Subaru WRX. Do that before you talk monthly again. On “mile ownership check-in,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Have you gotten a second quote in writing? I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.
