Anyone else: Project car budget is already getting away from me

Bought a cheap project because the shell was solid, and now the 'small stuff' list is longer than the drivetrain list. How do you guys prioritize safety/reliability, fabrication, cosmetics and power without rebuilding the car three times?

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2017 Porsche 911 in Philadelphia, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “project car budget is already getting away,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Keep sale price, fees, and rate as three different conversations. I'd rather look cautious in this thread than stuck later.

Same neighborhood, different next step: A second data point from another 2017 Porsche 911 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather be boring and correct. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 2017 Porsche 911, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. That's where I'd start. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.
