CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

TrailDetailerCommunity StarterAug 8, 20262021 Nissan Rogue SVCharlotte
Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them? I'm in Charlotte. If I fix it I'll come back and update the thread. What am I missing?

Quick update: a second 2021 Nissan Rogue quote made the first offer look ordinary. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

I'd push back a little: If one piece looks too good on the 2021 Nissan Rogue, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Any freeze-frame data saved? That's coming from doing this as an owner, not a shop. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Nissan Rogue so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Charlotte. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

If I were shopping this, i would not wire money until I've seen the 2021 Nissan Rogue and the title situation in person or via a trusted PPI. That's the part that actually changes the decision. This is from a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Charlotte. Any freeze-frame data saved? Worth doing even if the car feels fine right now. If they only talk monthly I'm walking.

If I were shopping this, in Charlotte, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Nissan Rogue comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. The universe charges extra for guessing. I'll update if anything new shows up.

Treat this like a math problem, not a vibe. Call your insurer in Charlotte before you fall in love with the 2021 Nissan Rogue. Do that before you talk monthly again. Any freeze-frame data saved? If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Insurance and tax belong in the comparison, not as a surprise. GAP, paint, and nitrogen are optional until you run the 2021 Nissan Rogue numbers without them. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Monthly payment math is how wallets disappear. Climate here is different, so treat that as a local data point. I asked for the buyer’s order in email, not a text.

The trap is a pretty payment hiding a worse car price. If one piece looks too good on the 2021 Nissan Rogue, hunt doc fees, accessories, and the APR next. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. Not letting add-ons ride along because everyone does.

Compare apples to apples or you'll get spun. Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2021 Nissan Rogue so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. Do that before you talk monthly again. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'd rather be boring and correct. Going to re-read the worksheet tonight.

Fair point. Counterpoint: In Charlotte, insurance quotes flipped a 2021 Nissan Rogue comparison for me more than the sale price did. That's the part that actually changes the decision. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.

I'd slow the salesperson down here. If they're pushing term length to shrink the payment, the 2021 Nissan Rogue price probably got worse. Then the comparison gets honest. This is from a 2021 Nissan Rogue in Charlotte. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.
