Fun daily that still works for one-car ownership

I want something I enjoy on back roads but still need to commute, carry luggage and survive bad weather. Trying to avoid buying a car that only makes sense on paper. What compromises have actually mattered after a year? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first. What am I missing?

I parked the 2024 Rivian R1S and wrote down what I already tested so I'm not repeating myself. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 2024 Rivian R1S owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. Not gospel, but it saved me a headache. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

Following up on car ownership: still happening, but I have better notes now. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Owner notes beat generic advice here. On the 2024 Rivian R1S in Ohio, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. That's where I'd start. On “car ownership,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2024 Rivian R1S in Ohio. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Useful. I'll report back after I verify that on my 2024 Rivian R1S. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. On the 2024 Rivian R1S in Ohio, I'd fix the thing you'll notice every day before chasing spec-sheet extras. I'd do that before spending real money. I'd keep this practical. Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Rivian R1S before a big repair or a big spend. I'd do that before spending real money. Take it or leave it — that's what I'd do. I'll update if anything new shows up.

I'd push back a little: Verify the cheap/easy branch on the 2024 Rivian R1S before a big repair or a big spend. That's where I'd start. Just my two cents from doing this recently. This is me being the wet blanket on purpose.
