Need advice: USB ports and wireless charging both quit

OldSchoolPilot66Community StarterJan 24, 20262023 Rivian R1T Quad-MotorMichigan
Phone charging stopped on both the wireless pad and USB ports, but everything else in the cabin seems normal. Before I pull trim apart, are these usually on one fuse/module or separate circuits? I'd rather test this logically than start replacing parts.

OP here — recorded a short video and noted speed, temp, and whether it was in gear. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

Start with the test that can prove you wrong. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Rivian R1T, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. The universe charges extra for guessing. This is the version I'd tell a friend.

If it were in my driveway, get a real battery/charging test on the 2023 Rivian R1T, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. Save the big job until that test fails. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'm keeping receipts and dates in one folder.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. A pressure test beats staring at a dry driveway if the 2023 Rivian R1T is losing coolant with no puddle. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “usb ports and wireless charging both quit,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in Michigan. Write the result down so the next test isn't a repeat of the last one. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

It did usb ports and wireless charging both quit twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. I'd rather pay for diagnosis than a second guess-repair.

Intermittent stuff lies if you only catch it once. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 Rivian R1T catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. On “usb ports and wireless charging both quit,” that was the fork that mattered for me. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. Might be overthinking it, but I'd rather overthink than overspend.

This is usually cheaper to test than to guess. Get a real battery/charging test on the 2023 Rivian R1T, not just resting voltage, before blaming a module. That's the branch I'd chase this week. This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in Michigan. Run the total, not the monthly, before you commit. No warning lights, which is why I'm documenting it.

I wouldn't throw parts yet. Two 2023 Rivian R1Ts can feel identical and have different causes, so measure before you copy someone else's repair. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. The universe charges extra for guessing. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Log the conditions before you spend. Loaded-suspension checks on the 2023 Rivian R1T catch play that a wheels-hanging inspection misses. That's the branch I'd chase this week. On “usb ports and wireless charging both quit,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. This is the filter I use when the thread starts repeating itself. Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

I'd want a measurement, not a hunch. If a shop can't duplicate it on the 2023 Rivian R1T, bring a video plus freeze-frame data, not just a story. Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. I'd want a dollar figure or a measured spec, not 'should be fine.' Happens in gear, not in park, for what that's worth.

Don't erase codes until someone who can help has seen them. Stop there until you know. A day of patience here is cheaper than a wrong part. Only after sitting overnight so far.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. Write temp, speed, and in-gear vs coast when the 2023 Rivian R1T does it — then decide on parts. If the cheap test changes it, stop and reassess. Was this after sitting overnight? I'd sleep better after that step, even if it finds nothing. Trying not to diagnose from the couch.

Log the conditions before you spend. Swap the cheap/easy piece first on the 2023 Rivian R1T and see if the fault moves. You'll know quickly if you're on the wrong tree. On “usb ports and wireless charging both quit,” that was the fork that mattered for me. This is from a 2023 Rivian R1T in Michigan. Post the numbers (or the code) and people can get more specific. If the story changes I'll post the new data.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Move a coil or plug on the 2023 Rivian R1T if it's cylinder-specific and see whether the code follows. That's the branch I'd chase this week. If they can't show the line item, I assume it's hiding. I'll update if anything new shows up.
