Question: CPO luxury SUV or brand-new mainstream SUV?

Budget works for either a lightly used luxury SUV or a new mainstream model with a full warranty. I'm more worried about three-to-five-year ownership cost and service downtime than the purchase price. How would you compare them?

Hard-won lesson from my last deal: Call your insurer in California before you fall in love with the 2018 Ford Mustang. I'd rather lose the car than buy a foggy deal. On “cpo luxury suv or brand-new mainstream suv,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Happy to compare notes if your setup is different. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. That's my plan before I call anyone.
