Question: Old car was converted to 12V years ago — wiring is a mess

TrailLearner77Community StarterJan 27, 20262025 Porsche Macan Electric 4SLas Vegas
2025 Porsche Macan Electric 4S, about 22,000 miles. Picked up a classic that was converted from 6V to 12V by several previous owners. It works, but the harness has splices everywhere. Would you repair sections or start over with a modern fuse panel and new harness? Any data points from owners would help.

Don't clear the alert just to make the screen pretty. Leave the alerts on the 2025 Porsche Macan so service can see what you saw. Then you'll know the next fork. A shop burned me once by skipping that step. Next check is the cheap one I can do in a driveway.

Charge curves lie if you don't match starting SOC and temp. Match starting SOC and battery temp if you're comparing 2025 Porsche Macan charge sessions. I'd do that before spending real money. This is from a 2025 Porsche Macan in Las Vegas with 22,000 miles. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If that fails I'll eat the diagnostic fee.

It did old car was converted to 12v years twice this week, both times after sitting. No change in mileage feel. Doing the boring step first on purpose.

Low-voltage gremlins will strand you even with a full pack. Try a second charger before blaming the 2025 Porsche Macan — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Learned this the expensive way on a previous car. I already checked the easy fluid levels.

I hear you, though I'd still want a second check. On the 2025 Porsche Macan, I'd get the 12V/DC-DC side checked even if the traction pack looks fine. Then you'll know the next fork. On “old car was converted to 12v years,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If your situation is the opposite, ignore me. That's my plan before I call anyone.

Not convinced that's the whole story. Try a second charger before blaming the 2025 Porsche Macan — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. I'd do that before spending real money. Do that first. I'll poke at it this weekend.

I'd push back a little: Try a second charger before blaming the 2025 Porsche Macan — site sharing and pack temp change the curve a lot. Then you'll know the next fork. That's the whole play. Wrote this up on my lunch break.

Cleared nothing. I want service to see the alert on the 2025 Porsche Macan first. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.

OP update: scanned the 2025 Porsche Macan again and still only have the one pending code, no new lights. I refuse to clear codes until someone else sees them.
