Question: Payload sticker changed my whole truck-shopping plan

I was focused on tow rating until I started adding passengers, gear and tongue weight. Now payload looks like the real limit. How much buffer do you personally leave for a family towing setup? Appreciate any ideas on what to check first.

Update from me: I finally have sale price, fees, and trade on separate lines for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. Sleeping on the number either way.

Same neighborhood, different next step: Keep sale price, trade, and financing split on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 so a “good payment” cannot bury a worse deal. If they balk, that's your answer. On “payload sticker changed my whole truck-shopping plan,” that was the fork that mattered for me. Verbal 'we'll take care of it' is not a plan. If GAP is bundled I'm making them unbundle it.

Don't send a deposit on a phone quote. In South Florida, insurance quotes flipped a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 comparison for me more than the sale price did. Screenshot the worksheet if you can. That's the whole play. Make the next action something you can finish this week. Calling insurance in the morning before I reply to the desk.
