1990 Ford F-150 XLT — question: Intercooler upgrade before adding more power?

On repeated pulls I can feel the car soften as temperatures rise. Would you prioritize an intercooler before adding more boost, even if the current setup is otherwise stock? If I fix it I'll come back and update the thread.

Write down what you already tried. A second data point from another 1990 Ford F-150 owner helps more than a generic diagnosis. That's where I'd start. Time, temperature, and whether it's in gear are the notes that actually help a shop. If this is nothing, great. I want that in data.

Don't overfit one forum story to your car. If it still isn't clear on the 1990 Ford F-150, a specialist hour can be cheaper than another round of parts. I'd do that before spending real money. Just my two cents from doing this recently. Make the next action something you can finish this week. I'm in no rush to be a hero on it.
